2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe PHEV is coming to Canada

 

 

 

Jeep entered the electrically assisted vehicle market with the new 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe PHEV. What advanced technology and features come with this new Hybrid Grand Cherokee?

Drivetrain

The drivetrain of the Grand Cherokee 4xe is a combination of the 2.0L turbocharged gasoline engine and two electric motors. One of the electric motors is in place of the conventional alternator. The other electric motor replaces the torque converter in the transmission. The transmission used is the 8-speed TorqueFlite automatic system. The 400-volt, 17kWh traction battery pack is fitted under the floor. The Integrated Dual Charging Module, DC to DC converter, and Power Inverter Module is also fitted under the floor.

 

You can select three drive modes, namely Hybrid, Electric and eSave. In the eSave mode, the Jeep runs on gas only, saving the electricity stored in the battery pack for later. The Grand Cherokee will automatically operate as a hybrid when the battery pack nears depletion. The plug-in hybrid 4xe produces 370 hp and 470 lb-ft torque. The Electric-only driving distance is 25 miles. The combined fuel economy rating is 56mpg in Hybrid mode.

Exterior

The Grand Cherokee 4xe is shorter and slimmer than its predecessor. This new design and the unique rear glass give the 4xe a sportier look. Styling was kept simple with a tiny blue "e" badge on the charging port cover and a 4xe logo on the left side of the tailgate.

Interior

The 4xe features a 10.25-inch digital gauge cluster. There is a 10.25-inch center touchscreen with Uconnect 5 navigation. You also get a 10.25 front passenger navigation and entertainment screen. The driver seat is 8-way electrically adjustable with memory with lumbar support. You also get a 506-watt, nine-speaker Alpine audio system.

Safety

The safety features include Lane Departure Warning with Lane Keep Assist, Blind Spot Monitoring, Full-Speed Collision Warning with Active Braking, Pedestrian/Cyclist Detection,

Rear Parking Sensors, Backup camera. Driver alertness sensor and the Intersection Collision Assistance is also available. There is a Night Vision Camera which detects Pedestrians and Animals.
