The 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4XE is forging a new path to the future. The 4XE is still a Wrangler in every way, shape, and form, but it offers plug-in electric capability without compromise.

 

New Features

Everything about the 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4XE is new since it is a brand-new addition to the Wrangler lineup. The 2.0-litre turbo plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) engine and 17 kWh lithium-ion battery pack have never been featured on a Wrangler before.

Design

The exceptionally tough exterior of the 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4XE does not differ much from its gasoline-powered Wrangler cousins. However, it can be distinguished from other Wranglers by special Electric Blue accents on the exterior, which are mimicked inside with Electric Blue stitching on the seats and trim panels. The rest of the interior and cabin layout are almost a carbon copy from the rest of the Wrangler lineup.

 

Performance

As mentioned, the 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4XE is powered by a 2.0-litre I4 DOHC direct-injection Turbo PHEV, a 17-kWh lithium-ion battery pack, regenerative brake booster, and eight-speed automatic transmission. These features provide the Wrangler 4XE with an all-electric range of up to 34 km and a total hybrid driving range up to 595 km.

In terms of performance, the 4XE is more powerful than the regular Wrangler. The PHEV system generates a combined 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque, which exceeds almost all of the lineup's non-hybrid engines.

 

Infotainment

The 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4XE features a convenient connection and superb sound through the Uconnect 4C NAV infotainment system with an 8.4-inch touchscreen and a nine-speaker premium audio system. Apple CarPlay and Android integration, Siri Eyes Free, SiriusXM, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi hotspot, and more are standards across the lineup.

 

Safety

Jeep equips the 2021 Wrangler 4XE with over 75 standard and available safety and security features, including a standard ParkView Rear Back-Up Camera, and available driver-assist features such as forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, and more.
